Becsta.COM gets another upgrade!

Yes!

Finally, I decided to “upgrade” this site once more, as it’s needed an upgrade – as you’ll see below :)

I upgraded my website in 2006 to run the WordPress CMS system. At the time, I selected a theme which was based on the typical magazine styles – a big flashy headline, followed by a few less important headlines. All the other topics were “buried” within the guts of the site.

I was initially quite excited by the upgrade to WordPress, and the new theme, but soon discovered that the theme didn’t really suit the site I wanted mine to become. I ended up not writing any topics – though a lot has happened in the meantime, which I’ll catch up on in other posts soon.

So, what prompted my change of heart, and subsequent upgrade?

One word – iPod

Early this year, I bought myself a new iPod Touch. I’ve been keeping relatively up-to-date with the iPod’s since the Gen 2 iPods were released, and the iPod Touch is the latest. Sadly, I don’t (yet!) have the iPhone, and that will be next.

When the iPhone was released recently into the Australian market, Apple introduced the AppStore at the same time. As a iPod Touch user, I found this development exciting, as I could now download various apps for my iPod Touch. I now have an app to monitor my fuel usage, manage my tasks and projects, play games, watch stocks, download news…

One app which piqued my curiosity was an app released by WordPress – I could use my iPod Touch to write articles for my website. Alas, when I downloaded it, and tried to connect to my website, it gave an error message that the site was running an unsupported version of WordPress.

*ugh*

Upgrade time!

Along with the upgrade comes a change of scenery. As a result, some things may not work properly, or looks wrong, or has that “cracked bell” feel. I’m going to go through this site, and hopefully make things better.
